What about putting one of his images on the first page of your double-page spread instead of a picture of him? Think about breaking up the format of the last page so that each column isn't so predictable, ie. text with image below. Maybe the last page could have the image above? The big 3 is confusing; I thought it was another design. You don't have any number on your second page, and it needs one. You may have to abandon the big page numbers for these layouts,but keep it in mind for future projects. Without the big page numbers you will have some negative space that will make the spread seem less packed.
